Forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh will be granted Temporary Protected Status, Nikol Pashinyan said at the Armenian National Assembly.

“Tomorrow, at the government meeting, we will adopt a decision according to which our brothers and sisters, forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh, will be granted Temporary Protected Status,” he said.

According to Pashinyan, the draft of this decision has been repeatedly discussed in the broadest formats.

“We are doing this to record the fact that our forcibly displaced brothers and sisters of Nagorno-Karabakh are refugees, and in order to further expand the opportunities for protecting their rights both locally and internationally,” Pashinyan said.

According to the Prime Minister, after the adoption of this decision, the displaced persons will also have the opportunity to apply for Armenian citizenship.

Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan, in turn, noted that after obtaining Armenian citizenship, the Artsakh people will also be granted the right to receive pensions and all benefits provided by law.
