France-Azerbaijan relations have greatly deteriorated, expert says
Leading researcher at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, expert on France Sergey Fedorov commented to Alpha News on the French Foreign Ministry’s statement that France recalled its ambassador to Azerbaijan for consultations.
According to the expert, the fact that France is recalling the ambassador once again indicates that we should not expect any drastic improvement in relations between Baku and Paris anytime soon.
“Such procedures show that relations between countries have greatly deteriorated. It is worth noting that France recalled its ambassador to the United States several years ago. Relying on the EU, France supports Armenia’s position on the serious Armenian-Azerbaijani crisis. That is why Azerbaijan cannot but react accordingly. Relations between Azerbaijan and France are strained. The fact that France is recalling the ambassador once again indicates that we should not expect any drastic improvement in relations between Baku and Paris anytime soon.
Azerbaijan and France have unresolved disputes after Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan practically surrendered Nagorno-Karabakh, blaming Russia for ‘not meeting him halfway’,” Fedorov said.
