Friendship with West has not brought anyone any good, expert says
Speaking with Alpha News, Russian politician and writer Nikolai Starikov commented on Armenian-Russian relations and the issue of the so-called “Zangezur corridor”.
“Armenian-Russian relations will certainly be good because these two peoples are so closely intertwined that it cannot be otherwise. However, unfortunately, some politicians become tools of external forces, trying to ruin these relations in the interests of these very third forces.
Well, of course, we are very concerned about the fate of Armenian statehood. It seems to me that friendship with the West has not brought anyone any good,” he said.
According to the politician, Western countries use manipulative techniques in their actions, taking advantage of certain problems of the state that is interesting to them.
“Look how the West works. It creates a problem, then, like a fisherman, it throws this problem in the form of a hook or bait. In the same way, it always uses some problems to win countries over to its side and change the government there. This is the process that is happening today,” the expert said.
When asked about the possibility of opening the so-called “Zangezur corridor” the politician said that the Armenian authorities are not doing anything to prevent this project from happening.
“Today we do not see that government officials in Armenia are going to interfere with this project. It looks like they are going to connive. This is the danger that awaits Armenian statehood. Under the guise of good and beautiful words about European integration and other things, there is a consistent destruction of the structure that guaranteed peace to Armenia,” Starikov concluded.
