Garnik Davtyan: There will be border escalations after the spring
Statements about peace are simply an attempt to deceive and mislead Armenians and organize a second genocide, expert on Azerbaijani studies Garnik Davtyan told Alpha News.
“If 100 percent was not an absolute number by mathematical calculation, I am sure that Aliyev would have collected 135 percent of votes in Azerbaijan. Considering Aliyev’s aggressive and anti-Armenian policy, we must note that there will be border escalations after the spring. All statements about peace are simply an attempt to deceive and mislead Armenians and to organize a second genocide, including those statements by the Armenian authorities,” our interlocutor emphasized.
Garnik Davtyan noted that it will take at least 50 years for real peace to be established between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“Taking into account all the developments based on the exodus of Armenians from Artsakh, the occupation of the sovereign territory of Armenia, and the high level of hatred towards Armenians, we cannot be sure that peace with Azerbaijan is possible in 50 years. At least two generations should be educated and developed with such moral values to be able to understand the full meaning of the word peace.
The purpose of the snap presidential election is to take the opposition by surprise and prevent them from developing and implementing the right tactics—at least a joint front fight against Aliyev. We know very well that in Azerbaijan there is also a lack of opposition. There is a shortfall of the opposition,” the expert said.
According to Garnik Davtyan, the opposition does not play any role in the internal political agenda of Azerbaijan because they lack political thought.
