Gaspar Karapetyan, Head of the ARF Armenian National Committee of Europe, believes that the resolutions are neither punitive nor binding; however, they have their moral effect, and the more they are repeated, the closer the moment of not avoiding the decision will be.

“There are some expressions that are painful for Azerbaijan. In addition to condemning Azerbaijan and demanding the return of Artsakh Armenians, there are talks about imposing sanctions against Aliyev and his entourage, if necessary, in the energy sector.

For us, four or five sentences in these two reports about the agreement between Artsakh, Azerbaijan, and Armenia are positive. The call to the executive to assist Armenia so that it becomes stronger and has the ability to defend itself is also important.

The work of the diaspora structures, basically the ARF, is to speak out about the problems, shortcomings, or wrong decisions of the executive body, and in some cases also their strange attitude, and draw attention to them,” Gaspar Karapetyan told Alpha News.

When asked what effect the expansion of Armenia-EU relations at the expense of Armenian-Russian relations will have on our country, Karapetyan noted that the authorities should pursue such a policy that the country’s economy, the flow of people’s incomes, and Armenia’s infrastructure are not damaged.

“We welcome the expansion of relations with Europe, but this should not harm relations with other countries. Both the current and previous governments have pursued a complementary policy.

Recent aggravation of relations with Russia, I believe, is not right for our national interests. We should pursue a more flexible policy and have good relations with both Russia and the EU without harming relations with either of them,” he said.
