Armenia’s Ministry of Environment has received numerous reports from citizens regarding a gender reveal party held at the Shaki Waterfall. Ministry spokesperson Ani Hakobyan emphasized on her Facebook page that organizing a gender party near the Shaki Waterfall violated the protection regime of the natural monument.
“As a result of these actions, parts 1 and 2 of Article 19 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia ‘On Specially Protected Natural Areas’ were violated. According to the law, any activity that threatens the preservation of a natural monument is prohibited on its territory. The protection regime is defined by a passport prepared for each monument. Additionally, a ministerial order prohibiting any activity that alters the appearance of a natural monument was also breached,” she wrote, reminding once again that Shaki Waterfall is a hydrogeological natural monument under state protection.
The alert was forwarded to the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body for appropriate action.
“Dear citizens, we urge you to comply with the environmental protection laws and refrain from any actions that may harm the natural heritage of our country,” Hakobyan concluded.
