Georgia has declined to take part in the 12th plenary session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, scheduled to be held in Yerevan from October 28 to 30, Sputnik Georgia reports.

Levan Makhashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration, addressed an open letter to the Euronest leadership, outlining several reasons for the decision:

🔹 Hostile rhetoric from certain Members of the European Parliament and their participation in protests in Tbilisi contradict the principles of mutual respect and go beyond the bounds of parliamentary diplomacy.

🔹 Certain members of the European Parliament delegation to Euronest have made statements that incited public unrest, radicalization, and violence in Georgia, while resolutions and reports continue to ignore the democratically expressed will of the Georgian people.

“We are deeply concerned by the decision to invite certain individuals under the guise of civil society to the plenary session despite their support for declaring elections illegitimate, undermining democratic institutions, and the recent attempt to overthrow the government in Georgia. By providing a platform to such figures, Euronest encourages anti-democratic behavior and legitimizes violent or radical political agendas,” he said.
