Mass riots broke out at Dinamo Arena in Tbilisi after the second leg of the Nations League play-off between Georgia and Armenia.
Georgian fans stormed the field and began throwing objects at Armenian fans. Let us recall that the Georgian team won 6-1. Alpha News spoke with Artur Mirzoyan, President of the “Armenian Community of Georgia” NGO, on the topic.
“No matter how many football matches have taken place between Armenia and Georgia, I have never attended them for the simple reason that I have always been aware that small incidents could happen. I have always avoided being among Georgian citizens and hearing their curses, unpleasant reactions. But this time the incident was unprecedented and unexpected, given the fact that when you win with a score of 6-1, there should not be such a reaction from the fans,” he said.
According to him, Yerevan residents welcomed Georgian fans very friendly.
“I was surprised by the attitude of Yerevan residents when Georgian fans came to Armenia for the first match. Even after the Armenian team’s defeat, there were no major incidents in Yerevan,” Artur Mirzoyan said.
