German ex-MPs on trial over bribes from Baku

Two former members of the Bundestag from the CDU/CSU, Eduard Lintner and Axel Fischer, went on trial in Munich on Thursday, BBC reports.

The former MPs are accused of accepting bribes from Azerbaijan in exchange for promoting Baku’s interests at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). Both have denied the allegations.

The press release on the court’s website notes that the main hearings on this case will last until August.
