Gevorg Bagratuni: The church has inspired trust in people, its demand is legitimate
Everyone is talking about the documents, but no one has seen them, Gevorg Bagratuni, Head of the National United Armenia NGO, told Alpha News.
“This movement was expected, but the fact that it started so early was unexpected. I don’t know whether this demarcation is lawful or not, because according to the law, I believe, the leaders of the state do not have the right to draw the borders of the country in this way. What is strange is that in our political field, everyone is talking about the documents, but no one has seen what is written in those documents or what was agreed upon.
Everyone says that there is a document, according to which we do this and that. The government opposes the people, and the people oppose the authorities. From either side, the government is taking inappropriate and unpleasant steps for common Armenians,” he said.
According to Bagratuni, the church has inspired trust, and people are joining this movement.
“This movement took a different shape when the church joined it, which expanded this struggle. A part of the people did not want to join this struggle because they were confused; they did not want to join politics or, so to speak, join the former leaders. Now that the church has joined, people trust that this demand is legitimate.
There is truth in this demand; there is something that the church defends. Our church is the guardian angel of our nation. The church is the existence of our nation. In extreme situations, it was the church that has kept us, Armenians, the way we are,” Gevorg Bagratuni concluded.
