On October 4, Gyumri will celebrate City Day not with funds from the municipal budget, but thanks to the financial support of the Tashir Charitable Foundation, owned by businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan. In this regard, Alpha News spoke with Lena Matevosyan, a member of the Our Way movement.
When asked why Tashir chose to sponsor the event, Matevosyan noted, “There was disagreement among the council members about whether City Day should be celebrated at all. Our Movement, however, believes that this is not just a holiday for Gyumri residents, but also a way to attract tourists. That’s why we decided to support the initiative to make this great celebration a reality for the residents of Gyumri.”
Regarding what residents can expect, Matevosyan said, “Gyumri residents can look forward to a great celebration. Various events will take place across multiple locations throughout the city. And at the end of the day, at 6 PM, a grand concert will be held in Vardanants Square, featuring performances by famous artists, giving the city a real celebration.”
