The heads of countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will take all necessary measures to stabilize the situation in the Caucasus region, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff Anatoly Sidorov said at a press briefing on Thursday.

“I do not presume to judge what decision the heads of state will make. I think they will also take all measures to stabilize the situation on the Caucasian land, both in Armenia and in neighboring states,” Sidorov said.

He added that the measures were proposed back in 2022, following the results of the work of the delegation of the Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat in Armenia.

“There was a report to the heads of state. Based on all the conclusions and assessments, certain measures were proposed, and draft documents were prepared. For a number of reasons, the discussion is still going on,” he said.

Sidorov also brought attention to the changed nature of common threats.

“It is not the same as it was before, when dozens of divisions were concentrated along the border and everyone was waiting for military attacks to begin. Threats can now be of a biological, informational, or economic nature. Of course, they are common and, at least, have some common tendencies for distribution and development; therefore, the heads of state and all the leading ministries and officials are taking measures to counteract this,” Sidorov said.
