The Horizon Weekly was founded to provide essential information to the Armenian community, editor-in-chief Vahagn Garagashyan said in an interview with Alpha News.

“The Horizon Weekly was founded 45 years ago and its first issue was published on May 28, 1979. At the time, the ARF Central Committee of Canada realized the need for a weekly publication. It was launched to provide the Armenian community with the necessary information. Horizon is one of those Diaspora media outlets that, especially over the past 20 years, has had direct contact with all government circles in Canada. We also conduct interviews with Canadian ministers, members of provincial parliaments, further expanding the weekly’s audience,” Garagashyan said.

According to him, all the events within the Armenian Diaspora find their place on the pages of the weekly.

“Horizon has always been a reflection of the Armenian community, and the newspaper covers all important community events and the establishment of Armenian centers and churches. In other words, the history of the Armenian community of Canada over the past 45 years is summarized in the Horizon archives. And if I recall which archival photographs made an impression on me, I should note that these are photographs of the opening of Armenian centers,” Garagashyan concluded.
