Earlier today, residents of Kasakh village attempted to block the Yerevan-Ashtarak highway, but police intervened to prevent them. The protesters demand the return of Route No. 59, which connects Kasakh to Yerevan.

“One bus is far too little for a village as large as Kasakh—not to mention the small, uncomfortable ‘Gazelles.’ We have to pay 200 drams to travel just 3 kilometers. On top of that, public transportation operates only until 7 p.m. What are people working the second shift and students supposed to do in such a situation?” a villager expressed her frustration.

The villagers insist that they will continue protesting until their demands are met. “Route No. 59 must be reinstated. Authorities want to ease congestion in the city, but this is not the solution—they need to come up with a better plan,” the protesters declared.

As previously reported, on April 9, residents of Proshyan and Kasakh villages met with government officials to discuss transportation issues affecting their communities. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Head of the Transportation Department of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, as well as a representative from the Municipality.
