In December, a team of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) visited persons held in Azerbaijan, the ICRC office in Armenia told PastInfo.
Former Presidents Arkadi Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan and Arayik Harutyunyan; National Assembly Speaker Davit Ishkhanyan; former foreign minister David Babayan; former defense minister Levon Mnatsakanyan; former state minister Ruben Vardanyan; and former chief of staff of the Artsakh Armed Forces David Manukyan are among those unlawfully held captive in Baku.
In December it became known that more fabricated charges were brought against them, which provide for punishment up to life imprisonment.
Ruben Vardanyan’s lawyer Jared Genser stated that the charges are fully politically motivated, directed against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh and aim to massacre its leaders.
