The staff of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) visited Armenian detainees in Azerbaijan in late January and early February this year, ICRC Armenia representative Zara Amatuni told Armenpress.
She said that the ICRC visited the captives, whose names were confirmed by Azerbaijan.
“These are regular visits that are agreed upon with the authorities of this country,” she said.
According to Amatuni, the ICRC staff reviewed the detention conditions and health of the captives and gave them the opportunity to contact their loved ones.
Argishti Kyaramyan, the Head of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, earlier said that 55 Armenians are currently held captive. However, Azerbaijan has so far acknowledged only 23 of them.
