In order to get money in the West, one must become a part of the West – Dmitry Zhuravlev
Speaking with Alpha News, Russian political scientist Dmitry Zhuravlev commented on the reports that Armenia applied to the United States with a request for the possible construction of a nuclear power plant in the republic.
According to the expert, in order to receive money in the West, one must become a part of the West; that is why, the nuclear power plant will be built not by “bad” Russians but by “good” Americans.
“Armenia turned to the US because Armenia wants to be as far away from us (Russia – ed.) as possible. They are sure that they have gotten all the good things they could get from us, and now they need the patronage of the West, they need money, and it is better to get it in the West. But in order to get money in the West, you have to become part of the West; that’s why the nuclear power plant will be built not by the ‘bad’ Russians but by ‘good’ Americans. The question is where they will buy the active elements because the technologies differ and their energy elements and ours do not fit together. You cannot put American rods in power plants built by us and our rods in power plants built by Americans. This will be an additional income for America because Armenia will have to buy from them,” Dmitry Zhuravlev said.
According to the expert, Russia tries not to quarrel with anyone.
“We are trying not to quarrel with anyone, including with countries that are leaving us, like Armenia. So, most likely, we will express regret and remember this but will not take any harsh steps. In principle, Armenia has the right to build a nuclear power plant with whoever it wants,” Zhuravlev concluded.
