Investigative Committee: Mikael Danielyan was wounded by a shot to his chin from an assault rifle attached to him

On January 9, it was reported that on the same day at around 11:30 a.m., senior lieutenant Mikael Danielyan was found shot dead at one of the combat positions of a military unit of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.

According to preliminary data, the serviceman was fatally wounded by a shot to his chin from an assault rifle attached to him.

Criminal proceedings were initiated in the Fifth Garrison Investigative Unit of General Military Investigative Department of Armenia, in accordance with Article 522, Paragraph 2, Clause 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (committing suicide by negligence during combat duty or military service).

The scene of the incident was inspected and a number of witnesses were interrogated.

An investigation is underway. All necessary and urgent actions are being taken to fully clarify the circumstances of the serviceman’s death.
