There are friendly and constructive ties between Iran and Armenia and the two countries have a common will to develop comprehensive relations, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani said in a press briefing, commenting on Armenian-Iranian relations.

“Iran and Armenia attach great importance to stability and security in the region and on the borders,” he said.

When asked how Iran feels about the US arms sales to Armenia, Kanaani noted that he does not have any information about it and cannot comment on it based on published news. He also said he does not comment on Armenian-American relations but is distrustful of the US role in the region.

“We are distrustful of the role of the US in the region, especially the military presence of this country. It is connected with the historical reality and destabilizing activities of the US government in the countries of the region,” he stressed.
