Iran considers Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders’ joint statement ‘positive step’

Iran welcomes the joint statement of Azerbaijan and Armenia on mutual actions and cooperation, including the release of prisoners from both sides, said Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Nasser Kanaani, referring to the recent joint statement by the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

He added that Iran considers the joint statement a positive step toward mutual agreement between the two countries.

According to Kanaani, achieving sustainable peace is an important basis for trust and cooperation between the parties.

“Iran hopes that the negotiation process will be effective and is ready to support the two neighboring countries in ensuring lasting peace,” he added.
