Iran is concerned about escalating tensions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani said, calling on the sides for peace, IRNA news agency reported.

Kanaani urged Armenia and Azerbaijan to show restraint after clashes on the border between the two countries, resulting in casualties.

He reiterated that dialogue and diplomacy are the only way to achieve sustainable and lasting peace in the Caucasus region. He encouraged both countries to intensify their efforts towards reaching a peace agreement.

On the morning of February 13, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces fired for several hours at Armenian positions located near the Nerkin Hand village in the Syunik region. As a result, four Armenian servicemen were killed.
