Iranian FM: Regional countries can play a constructive role in ensuring peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia

The progress of peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia is positive, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said this in a conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, Mehr News Agency reports.

He pointed out the negative consequences of the interventions of some foreign parties in the region and stated that the regional countries can play a constructive role in establishing and ensuring peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Lavrov, for his part, referred to the recent 3+3 format meeting held in Tehran, stressing the need for the related countries to strengthen cooperation to assist Azerbaijan and Armenia in reaching a peace agreement.

The Russian Foreign Minister also welcomed Iran’s important and constructive role in helping to establish peace in the South Caucasus region.
