June 28 2024, 10:53
A snap presidential election is taking place across Iran today.
About 60 people have already voted at the polling station in the Blue Mosque in Yerevan as of 9:30 a.m. The polling station will be open until 7 p.m.
There are 4 candidates running for president: Mostafa Pourmohammadi, a former Interior Minister; Saeed Jalili, a representative of the Supreme Leader of Iran in the Supreme National Security Council; Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, Iran’s parliament speaker; and MP Masoud Pezeshkian, a former Minister of Health and Medical Education.
Iran’s snap presidential election was called after President Ebrahim Raisi died in a helicopter crash in May 2024.
