The Israeli army has prohibited its soldiers from staying in Azerbaijan and Georgia in light of the threats of Iran’s strike, TASS reports, citing state broadcaster Kan.
According to the order of the army leadership, Israelis in military service who are currently in these two countries of the South Caucasus for any reason are obliged to return to Israel immediately.
Kan notes that Georgia and Azerbaijan are close to Iran, Iranians live on their territories, and Azerbaijan shares a border with the Islamic republic.
A sharp escalation of the situation in the Middle East comes as Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas political leader, was killed in Tehran and Fuad Shukr, Hezbollah commander, was killed in Beirut. Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah held Israel responsible for the incident and said they would not let it go unanswered.
