Israel may try to draw Azerbaijan into conflict against Iran – Ara Poghosyan

At this stage, the likelihood of direct military actions between Azerbaijan and Iran is not very high, but the situation should be considered within at least two possible scenarios, political scientist Ara Poghosyan said in an interview with Alpha News.

According to him, the first scenario is linked to the potential expansion of the conflict. He noted that Israel is attempting to involve new actors in the conflict and is actively taking steps in that direction.

“We see that Israel is making every effort to draw new sides into the conflict. The same is happening in the Gulf region and with the European Union allies, whom Israel is trying to involve in one way or another,” Poghosyan said.

Poghosyan stressed that this shows that Israel has placed a significant bet on this conflict and is trying by all means to achieve its strategic goals in the Islamic Republic of Iran. He did not rule out the possibility of provocations.

“I absolutely do not exclude that this could be a provocation organized by Israel. Israel has experience in such operations; its intelligence services are particularly known for their distinctive methods in these kinds of situations,” he noted.
