‘It feels like a young guy was beaten and asked his older brother for help’: Artur Muradyan on Georgian opposition
Speaking with Alpha News, Tbilisi teacher Artur Muradyan commented on the situation after the parliamentary elections in Georgia and noted that the majority of Georgian people made their choice in favor of the Georgian Dream.
“The Georgian people are very temperamental, like the Armenians, and we have a lot in common. The Georgian people, like the local Armenians, always want the best, and if we don’t like something, we change it for the better. You know that on October 26 we had parliamentary elections, as a result of which the Georgian opposition suffered a crushing defeat but did not accept it. And a few days ago, representatives of our opposition went to Strasbourg, and I personally, as a citizen of Georgia, had mixed feelings about this.
Imagine a young guy who got into a fight with someone who turned out to be stronger than him, and the guy could not cope on his own and harbored a grudge in his soul. Then he went to his older brother and asked him for help. That’s approximately the situation.
Since I work in several areas, I have to communicate and deal with many people during the day. I constantly have to deal with representatives of different layers of society, starting with students and teachers at school and ending with the prosecutor and judges. Thus, I communicate with many people and know the opinion of the ordinary, simple people of Georgia. Of course, there is an opposition-minded contingent too, but basically the Georgian people have made their choice. On October 26, the Georgian people supported the Georgian Dream because, let’s be honest, the Georgian Dream has the most balanced position.
Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, starting from the period when Georgia and Armenia gained independence and up to the present day, relations between Georgia and Armenia have never been at such a high level as they are now. For me personally, as a Georgian national of Armenian descent, this is a very serious factor in support of the Georgian Dream.
In addition, we can compare what was before the Georgian Dream came to power with the current situation in Georgia. Yes, of course, it is clear that there is an opposition-minded contingent in Georgia, but there are many more people who support the Georgian Dream, and I also support the current government,” Artur Muradyan emphasized.
