It is important for Pashinyan to create at least some semblance of success – Pyotr Kolchin

Speaking with Alpha News, political scientist and military expert Pyotr Kolchin commented on the reports that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a decree establishing the Department of European Integration at the Armenian Foreign Ministry.

According to the expert, these are bureaucratic simulations of activity driven purely by populist motives.

“In the midst of endless scandals and obvious diplomatic defeats, it is crucial for Pashinyan to generate newsworthy narratives out of nothing, and creating departments like this to replace existing ones is a sham that yields no tangible results.

The Prime Minister continues to promote the idea of European integration, which remains far removed from geopolitical reality. But amid scandalous arrests, persecution of the opposition, the strengthening of Azerbaijan, and the de facto surrender of the ‘Trump Route’ to Baku and Ankara, Pashinyan is using such narratives to sway Armenia’s media coverage, to create at least some semblance of success, the illusion that he is delivering on his promises,” Kolchin said.
