It is impossible to be in the EAEU and EU at the same time, but the decision rests with Armenia, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin told RIA Novosti.

“We firmly believe that it is impossible to be a member of two multidirectional associations like the EAEU and the EU at the same time,” he said.

Galuzin emphasized that the EAEU is an organization of equal states, whereas the EU operates under a framework of “rigid discipline dictated by anti-Russian narratives developed by Brussels bureaucrats who are detached from reality.”

“It is up to official Yerevan to decide where it is better to be. We hope that all the benefits of EAEU membership and the scale of losses from distancing from the EAEU will be explained to the Armenian society to provide an objective view of reality,” the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister said.

Galuzin added that Armenia is a sovereign state that chooses its own path of development.
