Recently, at the mayor’s office of the Canadian city of Laval, City Council member Seta Topouzian spoke about the Armenian Genocide.
Alpha News talked to Seta Topouzian about this topic.
“In recent years, during the annual April meetings at Laval City Hall, members of the City Council can discuss issues that concern them. Each time, I raise the topic of the Armenian Genocide, tell what happened and what we demand. Here in Canada, we try to talk about the Armenian issue and Artsakh to the best of our ability. Laval City Hall also condemned the events that unfolded in Artsakh in 2020,” Topouzian noted.
She emphasized that preserving Armenian identity is one of the most important issues in Canada.
“My grandmother was a survivor of the Armenian Genocide. Today, I, along with many other Armenians living in Canada, do our best to preserve our Armenian identity. We tell our children about the Genocide, we present the reality, and I believe that it is the duty of each of us to remain Armenians in the Diaspora,” Topouzian noted.
She also reported that every year, on the eve of April 24, Canadian Armenians gather outside the Turkish consulate to once again remind the world of what happened.
