Armenian member of the Lebanese parliament Hakob Bagratuni believes that in the event of a possible ceasefire, the loudest dissatisfaction will come from Israel. In a conversation with Alpha News, he noted that while Israel’s and the US’s strategic approaches broadly align in a deeper sense, they diverge at the practical and timing level.

“It is clear that Netanyahu wants to establish a fully functioning security zone in southern Lebanon and to strike all resistance centers, subjecting them to comprehensive demilitarization,” Bagratuni said.

According to the MP, a possible agreement or ceasefire could stand in the way of these Israeli plans. He noted that even following the ceasefire announcement, threats have been observed in various areas, including the southern suburbs of Beirut, pointing to sustained tension.

“At this stage, a ceasefire is not in Israel’s interest: it may be invested in the continuation of military operations,” Bagratuni stressed.

Drawing on past experience, he recalled that even under previously reached agreements, Israel continued to violate them and strike various areas.
