Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin told reporters that Armenia’s decision to stop financing the CSTO is not a tragedy.
“It’s not a tragedy. The organization continues its work,” he said.
Pankin noted that Armenia benefits from its participation in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAU), the country will remain a member of this organization.
“I cannot decide for the Armenian authorities what they want to do and what interests they pursue, but the fact that this is a mutually beneficial process and project is unequivocal. This is statistically confirmed by various indicators of Armenia’s economic growth and its involvement in the flows of trade and production cooperation,” he said when asked about the possibility of Armenia’s withdrawal from the EAEU.
