With the support of the Armenian Relief Society, 150 thousand dollars were collected and sent to the forcibly displaced persons, Jarmen Mirzakhanian, Deputy Chair of the ARS of Western USA, said in an interview with Alpha News.
“In a short time, we have achieved quite significant results. Our western department immediately allocated 150 thousand dollars to the Artsakh Armenians. According to the latest data, about 1,400 families were accommodated, more than 2,000 tons of food, clothing, and hygiene items were delivered to Artsakh Armenians,” Mirzakhanian said.
She said fundraisers were also organized on social media and called on everyone to join the initiative.
“The Armenian Relief Society is an organization with a 115-year history. It was always ready to lend a helping hand to the Armenians scattered all over the world and to every Armenian in need. The ARS representatives were among the first to go to Goris to meet the displaced Armenians of Artsakh. We are deeply concerned about this cruel situation.
It is very difficult to get down to work and help people. A lot of work has been done over these two weeks. We did not sit idly by. We worked and organized fundraising. Information on how to donate money is already available on social media. Everything we do is just a drop in the ocean. But we are trying to help our compatriots as much as possible,” Jarmen Mirzakhanian concluded.
