Johnny Melikyan: If Armenia has a positive agenda, the demarcation process with Georgia will be completed
A document marking a new phase in Armenian-Georgian relations was signed during Pashinyan’s visit to Tbilisi, Expert on Georgian Affairs Johnny Melikyan told Alpha News.
“As part of Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Georgia, the 13th session of the intergovernmental commission took place, during which a document was signed marking a new phase in Armenian-Georgian relations. The border demarcation process has been started for tens of years, but it has not been completed, and it can be said that today Georgia has this problem with almost all its neighbors. Turkey is the only state with which Georgia completed the process and signed an interstate agreement,” Melikyan noted.
According to the expert, if Armenia has a positive agenda today, the demarcation process can achieve a milestone, with this issue being completely solved.
“In this context, the message is that if we have a positive agenda and an already fixed strategic partnership agreement, we can activate the process and achieve a milestone when this issue will be solved as well. Unlike neighboring Azerbaijan, with which Georgia’s problems are deeper, it is no less important to complete this process with Armenia even faster,” Melikyan concluded.
