Possible leadership changes in Iran could have significant implications, especially considering Donald Trump’s political calculations, political scientist Robert Margaryan said in an interview with Alpha News.

According to him, the current situation could lead to a choice more favorable to Trump.

“If until now many believed that after Ali Khamenei’s departure it would be possible to stop the war and form a new political course, the election of Mojtaba Khamenei seems to send the message that Iran’s policy will not change and will continue in the same direction,” Margaryan noted.

Margaryan noted this situation could give Trump the opportunity to continue exerting pressure on Iran and to build a broader international coalition. He pointed out that in recent days, statements from several European countries have become harsher.

“Since yesterday, the statements coming from Europe have been much harsher. The German Chancellor said that power in Iran must change. Similar remarks were made by the President of the European Commission. Arab countries are also voicing strong assessments, and Egypt has stated that there may be attempts to form an Arab front against Iran,” he said.

According to Margaryan, current developments show that Trump may achieve one of his goals—establishing an external front against Iran.
