Speaking with Alpha News, political strategist Vigen Hakobyan commented on the latest press conference of Armenia’s second president, Robert Kocharyan, explaining the key message of his speech.
“I believe the main message was that the second president broke stereotypes: if there is a change of power in Armenia and the opposition comes to power—most likely, a coalition opposition—then all previously signed commitments and agreements will be subject to review. The president essentially sent a signal to the West, in this case the United States, that this is not about taking drastic measures, but rather about a possible revision of the content of any agreements, particularly the August 8 agreement,” Hakobyan said.
According to the political strategist, Robert Kocharyan proposed a way out of the current situation.
“I believe the most significant message was what style of governance the future government would adopt in the event of regime change. His speech dispelled all speculation about pro-Russian forces coming to power,” Hakobyan emphasized.
