Konstantin Sivkov: Pashinyan is Armenian Yeltsin and Gorbachev
Speaking with Alpha News, Russian military expert Konstantin Sivkov commented on the reports that Armenia is not against signing a peace treaty on the sidelines of COP29 in Baku, but the choice is up to Azerbaijan.
According to the expert, Baku expects to get more favorable conditions for signing a peace treaty.
“It is clear why Baku is delaying the process. It fully expects that it will be able to negotiate more favorable terms. Baku is well aware that the Armenian prime minister takes a pro-Western position. And it understands perfectly well that the West will not provide serious assistance to Armenia, especially if there is a conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan and Turkey. And Turkey is a member of the NATO bloc. Therefore, it is quite calmly waiting for the right time to get the Zangezur corridor. And with the existing Armenian leadership, Baku will get it,” Sivkov said.
According to the political scientist, Pashinyan is Armenian Yeltsin and Gorbachev.
“Baku will impose many more conditions. It will impose all those conditions that will actually destroy Armenia’s sovereignty. And Armenia will calmly fulfill all this because Armenia takes a pro-Western position. Armenia has elected a prime minister who is pursuing a pro-Western policy, who doubts the importance of Armenia’s participation in the CSTO and who deliberately creates conditions to justify Armenia’s withdrawal from the CSTO. And then, of course, when Armenia is left alone, it will be possible to do anything with it. This is basically what Azerbaijan is doing.
Pashinyan is the Armenian Yeltsin (the first president of Russia) and Gorbachev (the last president of the USSR) rolled into one,” Sivkov concluded.
