Kremlin: Russia does not intend to end the mission in Karabakh
Russia continues to play the role of a guarantor of security in Karabakh and is not going to end its mission, press secretary for Russian president Dmitry Peskov said.
Earlier, Pashinyan gave an interview to the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, in which, he stated that the Russian peacekeeping forces are not fulfilling their mission in Nagorno-Karabakh and that Russia is allegedly leaving the region.
“Russia continues to play a consistent and crucial role in stabilizing the situation in the region. And we will continue to play this role… Russia is not leaving from nowhere and it is not going to leave,” Peskov said.
He noted that in this case, the commitment of all the states of this region to the trilateral agreements concluded two years ago is very important.
“Following the provisions of these agreements is the key to success. Of course, new events took place after that, the events that slightly changed the situation. But it does not mean that Russia is going to somehow curtail its activities… Russia continues to play the role of a guarantor of security,” the Kremlin spokesperson added.
Peskov urged not to forget that “there are more Armenians living in Russia than in Armenia itself.” Most of them are patriotic citizens who make a worthy contribution to the development of the country.
