Larger-scale military drills with Armenia possible – Iranian Ambassador

Iran’s Ambassador to Armenia, Khalil Shirgholami, did not rule out the possibility of new joint military exercises with Yerevan. He said this in response to a question from Sputnik Armenia.
According to the ambassador, these drills could be larger in scale than last year’s April special forces maneuvers on the border between the two countries.
Shirgholami noted that military cooperation between Yerevan and Tehran is intensively developing, as evidenced by the current visit of Defense Minister Suren Papikyan to Iran.
This visit had been planned for a long time, and the sides intend to discuss new directions and programs, the Iranian diplomat added. Defense cooperation, he said, is based on the principles of the inviolability of borders and the territorial integrity of both countries.
