Russian and Armenian Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Ararat Mirzoyan have exchanged messages to mark the 33rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Russia.
“During this relatively short historical period of time, thanks to our joint constructive and fruitful efforts, the interstate relations between Armenia and Russia have been strengthening and expanding, based on the centuries-old friendship of our peoples.
In the current conditions of the changing architecture of international relations, it is important to continue our partnership based on the interests of our states and for the benefit of our countries and peoples.
We are committed to long-term, mutually beneficial cooperation in political, socio-economic, humanitarian and other spheres and aim to continue and expand meaningful dialogue that fully meets the interests of our countries,” Mirzoyan said in his congratulatory message.
Lavrov, for his part, said that despite attempts by other nations to destabilize their relationship, Russia and Armenia have managed to maintain a high level of political dialogue and foreign policy coordination, as well as foster trade and economic cooperation.
Lavrov also affirmed Moscow’s readiness to further deepen its partnership with Yerevan, improve the effectiveness of the partnership for the benefit of the Russian and Armenian peoples and in the interests of strengthening peace and security in the South Caucasus.
