Lawmaker killed during parliament shooting in Abkhazia

Abkhazian lawmaker Vakhtang Golandzia was shot dead at the parliament building in Sukhumi, RIA Novosti cited the health ministry as saying.

Earlier, Abkhazia’s Interior Ministry reported that two lawmakers were wounded in the shooting. The fight took place with the participation of MPs Adgur Kharazia, Kan Kvarchia and Vakhtang Golandzia. Kharazia fired several shots, wounding Kvarchia and Golandzia.

“Golandzia died, he was wounded in the head, Kvarchia’s life is not threatened, he was wounded in the shoulder,” the ministry said.

An investigation team is working at the scene.
