Let Armenian citizens look at what these ‘vampires’ have done to their own people – Zakharova on EU

The European Union is wielding sanctions as a tool to bring trade and investment cooperation between Armenia and Russia under its control, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in response to a question from Alpha News.
She added that Moscow considers such attempts to be absolutely unacceptable interference in the affairs of sovereign states.
“You know what this looks like? There are such ‘vampires’—I can say ‘Brussels vampires’—who creep up to normal people and say: do you want us to bite you, and you will become just like us? You won’t reflect in mirrors, you’ll fear sunlight, you won’t need energy, and so on. Well, this is the same thing. EU representatives Kaja Kallas and Marta Kos literally exposed themselves. Their statements once again prove that Brussels’ only real goal in its interaction with Yerevan is to damage Armenia’s relations with Russia. They no longer even try to hide it—or perhaps they would like to, but their intellectual abilities don’t allow it. We see, and they themselves admit, that the EU is trying by all means to undermine our traditional, mutually beneficial, and respectful partnership in key sectors of Armenia’s economy, including energy. What harm has the Armenian consumer ever seen from Russian-Armenian energy cooperation? None,” the diplomat noted.
According to Zakharova, Armenia has functioning infrastructure, as well as a respectful dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation with Russia.
“Let the citizens of Armenia look at what these ‘vampires’ have done to their own people. I cited figures showing how much ordinary people in EU countries now pay after these ‘dark fairies’ cast their spells over their countries’ energy cooperation with Russia. They pay several times more, and the EU wants to do the same with other countries. They are wielding sanctions as a tool to bring trade and investment cooperation between Armenia and Russia under their control. We consider such attempts to be absolutely unacceptable interference in the affairs of sovereign states,” Zakharova emphasized.
She added that, unlike Brussels, Russia’s approach to building relations with Armenia—as with any other country—does not impose demands and does not force friendship against someone else.
