Let’s hope Samvel Karapetyan is released from courtroom – Aleksan Aleksanyan

We hope the court will do its job the way courts in the Republic of Armenia are supposed to, Aleksan Aleksanyan, a supporter of businessman Samvel Karapetyan, said today, August 14, outside the Anti-Corruption Court.

“Our expectation is that Samvel Karapetyan will be released from the courtroom. And we strongly hope that the court will finally do its job the way courts in the Republic of Armenia are supposed to. Courts should be free and independent in their decisions, not influenced by phone calls or certain statuses,” he stated.

According to him, certain doubts have arisen regarding Robert Amsterdam’s documents.

“There were certain doubts among some individuals regarding Robert Amsterdam’s documents. The process is ongoing, and we’ll see what happens. But Mr. Amsterdam expressed his full opinion in his speech. Mr. Amsterdam believes that this is a political persecution, that Samvel Karapetyan is being held unlawfully, and that the government of the Republic of Armenia is not complying with arbitration rulings,” he said.
