One of the ANCA activities is to boycott COP29, Garen Jinbachian, the Community Coordinator for the ANCA-Western Region, told Alpha News.
“How much irony there is in using the words ‘Azerbaijan’ and ‘human rights’ in one sentence. The Armenian National Committee is part of a great pan-Armenian effort to let the whole world know that ethnic cleansing, genocide, and forced displacement cannot be greenwashed or forgotten. One of the tasks of the committee is not just to boycott this conference but also make congress members or even public figures who should attend this conference raise these issues so that the Azerbaijani government starts feeling uneasy on its land, where it should be safest,” Jinbachian said.
According to him, the committee sent letters to the US government, to which the Azerbaijani side responded.
“60 letters were sent to the US government to prevent COP29 from being held in Baku. After that, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev reacted by saying that this letter was a very disgusting act on the part of the United States. This was followed by a new PR campaign. They made a video where the ANCA was at the top of the pyramid. The Armenian American community has the right to tell the congress members what they consider to be wrong,” Garen Jinbachian concluded.
