Luxembourg’s Chamber of Deputies urges Azerbaijan to release all unlawfully imprisoned persons

Luxembourg’s Chamber of Deputies adopted a resolution condemning the Azerbaijani government’s sanctions against the freedom of speech of lawmakers and representatives of civil society.

The Chamber of Deputies demanded that Azerbaijan immediately and unconditionally release all unlawfully imprisoned persons.

Taking into consideration the Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch reports, the Chamber noted that approximately 300 persons are currently unlawfully imprisoned in Azerbaijan for political reasons.

The resolution condemned the arbitrary arrests targeting civil society, journalists, and other critics.
