Both during the mayoral elections and during the approval of an increase in parking fees, the Civil Contract Party was unable to obtain the minimum number of votes required to make these decisions, but on the issue of the fare increase, it was able to ensure a quorum, Manuk Sukiasyan, Leader of the Mother Armenia Alliance, told Alpha News.
“These scandals, which consistently appear in the arena, show what kind of dirty money the Civil Contract Party spent on the election campaign and how many votes it received, and that it was unable to form a city government. It was only by using the well-known methods they used to elect the mayor and vote on parking fees that they were able to get the minimum number of votes needed to push their decisions.
But during the voting on the project to increase fares, two opposition members of the City Council allegedly formally voted against it, thereby ensuring a quorum. As a result, this shameful bill was passed. There is still time until September, and I believe that when the public understands that they will have to pay to commute at these tariffs, they will adequately respond. At this time, the Mother Armenia Alliance will be at the forefront of the struggle,” Sukiasyan said.
The faction leader is confident that as soon as September 1 approaches, social consolidation will appear.
“When the meeting was supposed to take place on December 26, we informed the public and invited people to come to the mayor’s office. Unfortunately, very few people reacted, but when the decision came into effect, there was an indescribable rage on social media. But since the decision of the City Council does not come into force immediately, as soon as September 1 approaches, I believe social consolidation will appear,” Sukiasyan concluded.
