Maria Lazaryan: Azerbaijanis are pursuing anti-Armenian sentiment in the US today
When the homeland does not give the appropriate response to Azerbaijan, the diaspora automatically loses its wings, journalist Maria Lazaryan said in an interview with Alpha News.
“It is not surprising that today Azerbaijan is making anti-Armenian propaganda in the diaspora. It’s not surprising, because when your homeland doesn’t give the necessary response to Azerbaijan, the diaspora automatically loses its wings. Before, when we had a casualty at the border, everyone only talked about it. We were mourning, but that norm has been broken, and now people treat it very calmly, as if it were a normal thing,” Lazaryan said.
The journalist noticed that, both in Armenia and in the US, people have lost their cultural dignity.
“Here, in the US, I have also noticed that people have lost cultural dignity, the feeling of protecting it. I never once heard that in Los Angeles, where Armenians have always been the majority, Azerbaijanis could show any aggression. However, today they dare to promote anti-Armenian sentiment. All this is the result of the current Armenian government’s inaction. If you carefully follow the social media war, you will notice that the Turks and Azerbaijanis talk very mockingly about the Armenian nation, but they talk about Nikol Pashinyan very neutrally and build their speech as if saying that Nikol is one of them,” Lazaryan concluded.
