Maria Zakharova: The situation in the Lachin corridor is the result of Armenia’s recognition of Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan

Moscow considers it pointless, wrong and unjustified to place the responsibility of the abduction of Armenian students by the Azerbaijani border guards on the Russian peacekeeping troops, because a new situation has arisen after Yerevan’s recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said during her briefing. She emphasized once again that the situation created in the Lachin Corridor is the result of the Armenian government’s recognition of Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan. Answering whether the Russian side offers the Artsakh and Azerbaijani sides to meet in Azerbaijan, and if there is a guarantee that the Azerbaijani side will not arrest official figures as well, Maria Zakharova responded:
“You just have to follow the agreements, that’s the guarantee. The answer is very simple, if you have agreed on something, moreover, you have exchanged signatures at a high level, then you should comply with it rather than make different interpretations and involve third parties.”
To remind, on August 28, the Azerbaijanis abducted three young people from Artsakh, Alen Sargsyan, Vahe Hovsepyan and Levon Grigoryan, who were transported to Armenia through the Hakari bridge by Russian peacekeepers.
