Matenadaran to present unique ‘The Lawcode’ by Mkhitar Gosh

From October 28 to November 1, the Museum-Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, Matenadaran, will exhibit a rare edition of Mkhitar Gosh’s “The Lawcode”—one of the most significant works of Armenian legal heritage.

Created around 1184, this compilation of feudal laws laid the foundation for the development of Armenian legal thought. In April 2025, “The Lawcode” was unanimously added to UNESCO’s Memory of the World International Register by decision of the organization’s Executive Board. The application was initiated by Matenadaran itself.
