Members of Council of Elders call on ambassadors accredited in Armenia to come and personally assess situation in Gyumri

The Communist Party faction of the Gyumri Council of Elders appealed to ambassadors accredited in Armenia, urging them to visit and witness firsthand the situation and the persecution being carried out against the mayor of Gyumri.

“Dear ambassadors, in recent days the authorities of the Republic of Armenia have increasingly employed various political and forceful methods to carry out political repression and persecution against the mayor of Gyumri. Political pressure intensified following Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s public statement regarding political persecution and repression targeting the mayor,” stated Lilit Aghekyan, press secretary to Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan.
