Mher Karakashian: We do not agree with the opinion of the RA authorities, the salvation of Artsakh is in its self-determination

Recently, we have concentrated our efforts on the work of ANCA, we are in contact with the authorities, the government, the state in all directions in order to draw attention to the Artsakh issue, Chairman of the Central Committee of the ARF Canada Mher Karakashian told Alpha News.

He added that their goal is to demonstrate the barbarism of Azerbaijan.

“We are intensively negotiating with various levels of power, up to the prime minister of the country and the minister of foreign affairs. A few months ago, the National Assembly of Canada held special hearings, raising the issue of Artsakh. The focus was on the blockade,” Karakashian said.

He said that they also had a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Canada, Mélanie Joly, two weeks ago.

“We spoke with her about specific issues. Firstly, the time for statements and calls has passed. Now it is time to impose sanctions against Azerbaijan. Secondly, we stressed that we do not agree with the opinion of the RA authorities. We believe that the salvation of Artsakh lies in its self-determination. If Artsakh does not continue its struggle, then, unfortunately, we are threatened with Genocide,” Karakashian added.
